Unter Linden – Boulevard with an urban feel

Imagine yourself walking along a boulevard. It’s laid out spaciously with wide strips and young trees of lush green. Linden trees – you suspect. Passer-bys are sitting on the benches. An older gentleman is reading a newspaper while his dog nibbles on his walking stick. There is a group playing boule on the promenade. Traffic is flowing smoothly thanks to the roundabouts and numerous parking spaces. This boulevard is the lifeline of the Prima Colonia quarter.

You stop at Veedel information board. You read why the Veedels have been established in Prima Colonia. And about their backgrounds. This is a great place for orientation, as the individual quarters can only be accessed from this boulevard.

The boulevard has an urban feel. Buildings have three storeys. There are workshops, offices and small businesses on the ground floor. People live above them, which can be seen due to the plants on the balconies and the rooftop terraces. They are strolling to the central square, Jakobsplatz. Their goal: a fresh cappuccino in one of the cafés or restaurants. Then they return to their cars. They drive just a few metres to a large parking lot with a shopping centre, that includes a supermarket, a discount store, a drink market, a bank, etc. They wrap up their shopping for the day comfortably. This is a place of shortcuts. You see the street sign. The promenade’s name confirms your suspicion: Unter Linden. An urban boulevard.
